Repairs to the 30-inch water main at the Lower Baxter Well location are done, and the water remains safe to use. That is the village's own update, posted Friday, September 4, and it is better news than last week's rupture-and-conserve scramble.
One step remains before full normal service: sample results and Health Department sign-off, which the village expects within days. Until the main is back in service, the conservation ask stays in effect for Village of Pawling users and Town of Pawling Water District #1 customers. Keep outdoor watering off and stick to necessary uses.
The all-clear, when it posts at villageofpawling.org, leads this section the same morning. Until then, this page and the village's news flash page are the two places to check.
The board meets the first and second Wednesday of each month at 6:00 PM, at Town Hall, 160 Charles Colman Blvd. That puts the next regular meetings on Wednesday, September 9, and the following week.
When does the Pawling Planning Board meet this fall?
The board meets the first and third Monday of the month at 7:00 PM in the Town Hall meeting room, with an application deadline calendar posted on the town's site. Check for cancellations before you go; agendas post ahead of each meeting.
Two music nights belong on your calendar. The first is the easiest on the wallet: Daryl's House runs Sunday brunch with free live music, noon to 2 PM — September 6 is on the club's calendar, and the brunch series continues through the fall. Reserve a table online if you want a seat.
The second is in Dover Plains: the library's coffeehouse night featuring the Rad Aces, Friday, September 18 at 7:00 PM, on the Dover Plains Library calendar. Most library events are free, and this room fills early.
And the big one still stands: "Forever Tina — A Tribute to Tina Turner" plays Daryl's House Saturday, September 19. The club's calendar lists the 8 PM set with tickets on sale now.
🤖 AI Corner — one plain-English AI thing, every issue
This week: let AI turn a long letter into five bullets.
Paste the letter into your AI chat and say: "Summarize this in five bullets, and tell me if anything in here needs a reply from me." Read the bullets, open the parts that matter, skip the rest. You read a tenth of the words and miss nothing that needs you.
Free library classes teach this hands-on. Reply with questions; they become future AI Corners.
